Tree Trimming

Strategically managing vegetation and right-of-ways increases Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative's system reliability and is necessary to keep members, employees, and the community safe.

Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative works diligently to keep right-of-ways cleared of trees and vegetation that can cause power outages. Our contractors are constantly trimming trees and vegetation under power lines to ensure our service is as reliable as possible.

Tree Planting Guide

If you are getting ready to plant trees or vegetation, please be attentive of overhead power lines that may hinder their growth in the future. Choose trees that grow no higher than twenty feet and rarely need pruning for power line clearance. Keep in mind that a 2-foot tall fir tree starter will grow over 100 feet tall and up to 50 feet wide. The cost to maintain or remove a tree can be over $30,000. Planting trees and vegetation to mask utilities can cause longer outages and is unsafe for workers. To get your underground utilities located free of charge, just call 811.

Trimming and Safety

If a tree has grown into the power lines, please do not trim yourself.  Contact Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative at (541) 332-3931.
